Kaylee explains Bruk Out Fest goes beyond enjoying music by black Queer artists but it's a celebration of intersectionality that many within the LGBTQ+ community feel they have to separate. 'I want people who are allies to also come and see the amazing DJs and performers we have and understand we have serious talent but sometimes it's not always a safe space for these talents to go elsewhere.'
The event is making its debut this Bank Holiday Sunday and there are big hopes it can start to drum up noise about the black queer nights in the region that have been creating safe entertainment spaces for decades. 'Let's bring all of these performances together and have a day of just celebration and really celebrating who we are.' Bruk Out Fest will be a one-day festival featuring performances by Amaria BB, Carter the Bandit and Wolverhampton's very own Sophie Lou.
